Two Academy science bowl teams competed at the High School Science Bowl Regionals – essentially the New Mexico state competition – in February. Academy’s A Team just a few points shy earning a spot in the finals.
Instead of facing teams head to head as in past years, for the online competition, all teams answered the same three sets of questions and had their scores tallied. The top five teams advanced to the playoffs, where they answered another set of questions.
Academy’s A Team made it through preliminaries comfortably, finishing with 354 points (118 points per game). In the playoffs, they scored 116 points, only six points out of first and four points behind second.
